Introduce yourself and set your goals for the read-a-thon. Some interesting information to include in this post would be Where are you blogging from? What got you into blogging/reading? What is your favorite genre? The possibilities are endless, just be creative!
This has been my first time joining interactive events in the world of books and yikes, I almost missed this first leg of the Summer Lovin’ Readathon event. I am Charlotte from the Philippines. I’m a lover of pets, gourmet, idling while daydreaming, lazy convos with family & friends and definitely, BOOKS. I am obsessed with Harry Potter and everything about his world which would basically equate to my ultimate ambition, visiting the Harry Potter theme park in Florida. Aside from these, I have just recently discovered that I really like blogging but quite uncertain if my nomadic nature would allow me to maintain a permanent virtual home.
For the meantime, however, I have been trying my best efforts to update and improve my newly created blog for book reviews. This is saying something because over the years, I have futile attempts in consistently running the previous blogs that I made, confused on what to write about. But this year was special; I have seen through the Mist and decided that I’m going to run a blog that talks about books. I’ve been reading since I was 14ish or 15ish (probably that was very late compared to the book addicts out there) but I wasn’t fond of books before then. They’re scary and tough looking. I am in a way ADHD… I can’t sit still. I always want to be in the move whenever I’m not eating or sleeping. What brought me into the world of print and pages is Harry Potter. My thanks to that wonderful boy. Ever since I finished Philosopher’s stone, everything just seemed to fall into place. Astonishingly, from the toys and grocery section in our malls, I am finding myself drawn to that place where rows and rows of books are displayed. And that is the story of my book addiction.
The story of my new found love for blogging, however, was different. I was actually stalking this organization blog when I stumbled across her blogroll where the blog owner listed all her favorite blogs. I randomly clicked one of them and voila, inspiration struck me. What’s interesting is that it wasn’t a book blog but an organizing blog where the owner talks home design and things like that. I was moved with her ingenuity and passion for her craft. Believe me, that blog has a very big impact in me for I love clutter and chaos. And yet, I was inspired by the very opposite of my nature. To put it simply, opposite poles attract.
The inspiration that blog has created and my love for books were the reason why I finally started a blog that is for keeps.
At the moment, I am trying to juggle between book reading, blogging, raising my dogs, and attending to my professional career (which by the way is already taking 9.5 hours, 5 days a week of my time). And that means that I will have to set the bar lower for my reading escapades. With Readathon, I am hoping to read 5 books at the least from July 1-July 7. Isn’t that ambitious?
For those who are curious about my preferred genres, it would be Y/A Dsytopia, Fantasy Adventure and Children’s Fiction. But I wouldn’t say no to a couple of Adult fictions out there.
